City of Heroes: Final Thoughts

After 14 days of on-again off-again play I have to say that I enjoyed playing the game. Having 14 days to try out any MMO is a great idea and I think I learned enough about the game to come to a conclusion on whether or not it is worth a subscription.

And the final analysis on that is: a strong yes, but with caveats. For one I don't think this game has the staying power of other MMO's out there. This is the kind of game that you subscribe to for 3 - 6 months.

The worst thing about the game is traveling. Traveling is a real pain in the ass and requires players to figure out some form of transportation - whether it be buying a jet pack, gaining the power of flight or picking up a speed running power.

Other than that I like the game. City of Heroes is the kind of game you jump right into and play. It is very accessible to newbies and grouping up with other people isn't as much of a pain in the ass as it is in other games. That's a big deal for me as, i'm sure, it is for other players. COH is a great break from other MMO's that require a bit more dexerity as well - as i've already said it is a pick-up-and-play kind of game.

So fnal thought on the game: i'd reccomend it as an entry level MMO or as an alternative to those looking for something that doesn't involve elves, orcs or dragons..
