Tired of Thompson

Here's some other bullshit statistics to go along with Jack Thompson's bogus "theories" on why the recent Illinois shootings happened. All the shooters in all these school shootings were exposed to the following things, which mean they were factors:


Advertising

Movies

Text Books

Television

Artificial Preservatives and Sweeteners

Clothing

I'm sure if I looked long enough I could find a study that backs up each one of these stimuli as being the cause of some sort of violent behavior, but that's not the point. The point is that it is easy to point the finger and say games are the cause, when in fact the shooter had what seems to be some serious mental health issues.


But while Jack and others like him get out there and do their dance before the big old candy cane colored hook yanks them off the stage, they do damage to our own sensibilities. People that have mental problems sometimes do very horrific things, after all, and it is very difficult at the end of it all to figure out the "how" and the "why" of the matter.

And journalists have a few problems on their end. It may be fun to highlight the stupidity of people and the bending of the truth to the point of almost breaking it, but when are we going to do the right thing and tune these people out? Yeah we are just as guilty because we post stories about this stuff and many in the industry do it for the sake of post counts and rabblerousing. It's time to do the responsible thing and put an end to the vicious cycle.
